How much of your training should be hard?
A question that is sometimes asked of me.
There is never a right or wrong answer, but there are a number of considerations and to allow you to come up with some of your own answers.
The key to improvement is incorporating a variety of sessions and intensities. Then building in sufficient rest & recovery.
Much will depend on your age/running history, and where you are in any programme based on your race plans etc.Understanding some of the different sessions that need to be incorporated into a training plan.
The types and length of sessions that you do, will very much be based on where you are in your running journey, and where you are at any point in a training plan, the latter will usually be dependent on a particular race that you are focusing on.
